Nearby Towns

Pontivy – Our nearest town, just 8 kms away. The river Blavet runs through the middle, and the Chateau Des Rohans marks one end of the main street. The centre is medieval with many half timbered buildings. Napoleon liked it so much that he changed the name to Napoleanville and built a drill square for 10,000 troops which now acts as the Monday morning market place. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, 2 swimming pools one of which is out doors. The tourist information office hires bikes and canoes can be hired in the town. Website

Vannes – 35 mins to the south this lovely walled city is one of the jewels of Brittany.  The marina comes up to the south gate of the city and leads into the cobbled streets and medieval centre, lovely shops, restaurants and bars.  It has a very French feel with plenty of bars to sit out side and enjoy the sunshine and atmosphere.  Great markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays mornings.  Boats leave from here to give tours of the Golfe de Morbihan.  Underground parking is available by the marina.  Website

Josslin – The chateau perched on a cliff overlooking the River Oust, very dramatic. Has mock medieval tournaments in July; market on Saturdays. Website

Auray - Nice town, close to Vannes, but do go to its small port of St Goustan. Cobbled streets, half timbered houses around a small quay. Plenty of small restaurants/bars, a great place for lunch. Website

There are plenty of other places to visit such as Lorient, Malestroit, Rochefort en Terre.  The following web sites provide additional information: Brittany tourism website ; Moribihan website
